Strict General Setting for Building Decision Procedures into Theorem Provers

چکیده
The efficient and flexible incorporating of decision procedures into theorem provers is very important for their successful use. There are several approaches for combining and augmenting of decision procedures; some of them support handling uninterpreted functions, congruence closure, lemma invoking etc. In this paper we present a variant of one general setting for building decision procedures into theorem provers (gs framework [18]). That setting is based on macro inference rules motivated by techniques used in different approaches. The general setting enables a simple describing of different combination/augmentation schemes. In this paper, we further develop and extend this setting by an imposed ordering on the macro inference rules. That ordering leads to a “strict setting”. It makes implementing and using variants of wellknown or new schemes within this framework a very easy task even for a non-expert user. Also, this setting enables easy comparison of different combination/augmentation schemes and combination of their ideas.

Centre for Intelligent Systems and their Applications A Framework for the Flexible Integration of a Class of Decision Procedures into Theorem Provers
The role of decision procedures is often essential in theorem proving. Decision procedures can reduce the search space of heuristic components of a prover and increase its abilities. However, in some applications only a small number of conjectures fall within the scope of the available decision procedures. Some of these conjectures could in an informal sense fall ‘just outside’ that scope. In t...

متن کاملUsing Decision Procedures to Accelerate Domain-Specific Deductive Synthesis Systems
This paper describes a class of decision procedures that we have found useful for efficient, domain-specific deductive synthesis, and a method for integrating this type of procedure into a general-purpose refutation-based theorem prover. We suggest that this is a large and interesting class of procedures and show how to integrate these procedures to accelerate a general-purpose theorem prover d...
متن کاملOn The Integration of Decision Diagrams in High Order Logic Based Theorem Provers: a Survey
This survey discuss approaches that integrate Decision Diagrams inside High Order Logic based Theorem provers. The approaches can be divided in two kinds, one is based on building a translation between model checker and theorem prover, the second is based on embedding the model checker algorithms inside the theorem prover. A comparison between both is discussed in detail. The paper also tries t...
متن کاملTool Building Requirements for an API to First-Order Solvers
Effective formal verification tools require that robust implementations of automatic procedures for first-order logic and satisfiability modulo theories be integrated into expressive interactive frameworks for logical deduction, such as higher-order logic theorem provers. This paper states some pragmatic requirements for implementations of decision procedures that make them well-suited to integ...
